WWI Themed Short Films

"Coward"

This short film is much longer than my film will be but it is still a good example to use. The story of this is about a solider who gets shell shock during a battle and does not follow the order to fall back as he is zoned out and in the end he gets court marshalled by his friends in his regiment. This shows that the high ranked officers didn't really care about their men and what they are suffering from and are willing to throw away life without a care in the world. this film's audience will be the same as my film's target audience as it has an anti-war view on the first world war which is the same as mine. so I think it would be a good idea to use this film for help with mine.
 
 

"1914" (Sainsbury's X-Mas ad)

This advert is from Christmas 2014, the story behind is about Giving at Christmas which isn't the same story as I plan to have but I think its a good way to show what the soldiers thought about the enemy during the early months of the war and how they were just ordinary people drafted into a irrelevant war. I can still use some of this in my film like the way the soldiers dress and act as in this advert; the actors playing the soldiers are experts in British war history so its a good example to base it off. this short film's target audience will not be exactly the same as mine as this film does not show the exact same views but it is still a ww1 themed short film so it will help me with my own short film.

Response to Pitch Feedback

In lesson we presented our pitch for our short film to our class. After presenting it I asked questions to them to see what they felt about and they asked me questions about what they think I could do to improve my film. One idea they said which i liked was to make a rather big age gap between my characters; meaning make the General an older man and the officer a young adult/late teen. this is because they said most young people say that they are anti-war while older people would say they are the opposite. I like this idea as it will go well with the anti-war theme, I will try and add this to my film by getting an older person to act in the film or just to get someone to look older than they are. they were also other ideas i liked such as different ways of adding some anti-war poetry into the film such as adding it into the dialog between the two characters.
