Linear and Non-Linear we discussed narrative types that we could implement into our short film and decided it would either have to be liner or non-liner film. a linear film structure is when the film goes from A to Z and goes in order; starting at the beginning, going to the middle then finishing with the end of the story. an example of a linear film is "Shrek" he is introduced at the start, then gave a goal to find the princess, and finally completes the goal of rescuing her. even though this structure is simple it is very effective and most films use this structure. it is an easy and powerful way to represent a story to the audience. I am planning to use this structure for my film. a non-linier narrative often starts at the middle of a story or the height of a conflict and then double-backs to the beginning. this structure is usually used to highlight a character's life that has a different way of thinking or processing information. films that use this structure t...

For the poster of my movie I have decided to have it look like old posters from movies and propaganda poster from and World War 1 and around that time. My plan is to not have drawings like these posters shown but, use pictures and use Photoshop to make them look like the posters shown another poster I looked at was "saving private Ryan" which is a ww2 action film

the target audience for this short film will be aimed at mostly younger adults rather than older ones; this is because my film is more of an anti-war film and the younger generation are mostly more towards the anti-war side. Also as my film's genre is war and action it may not appeal to people who do not enjoy that genre who normally tend to be women.

short film festivals are where short film creators go to show off there new creations and have it seen by other creators, critics and just normal people coming watch. it is a great way to show off your product to hundreds of people. some example of short film festivals include: London Short Film Festival UK Film Festival Cinemagic International Film Festival If I was to submit to a film festival I would choose the London short film festival as it only focuses on short films and gives me the chance to show off my short film to one of the biggest cities in the world. This festival is the mecca for the UK’s young creative talent and a significant date in the UK film calendar.

War Genre when watching a war movie you would expect certain things to happen. Themes explored include combat, survival and escape, sacrifice, the futility and inhumanity of battle, the effects of war on society, and the moral and human issues raised by war. These can depend on the type of war film as some films are pro-war and you can expect to see a lot of action and brotherhood, painting the protagonist as a hero. while for anti-war movies you can see that they can be more gruesome and more emotional Action Genre these sort of films have the protagonist or protagonists end up in a series of challenges that typically include violence, extended fighting, physical feats, and frantic chases. Action films tend to feature a resourceful hero struggling against incredible odds, which include life-threatening situations, a villain, or a pursuit which generally concludes in victory for the hero.
Short Film - Risk Assessments

I will be filming outside so there are few risk assessments I need to do to ensure the safety of the people on set. The main risk there will be is cars driving the drive way up Ormesby Hall, normally hardly any cars come up there apart from the odd dog walker driving up to the car park. The way to make sure no one is hurt is to keep people of the road and if filming does go onto the road have someone looking out for cars driving up. Another risk is the weather, as we are getting late on in the year there is more of risk of heavier rain and snow which can result in people slipping and injuring themselves. I can stop this from happening by checking the weather before shooting and choosing dates that aren't supposed to have poor weather. Finally, the last risk assessment I can think about is the surface of the set, this is because pebbled stone which means it could result in someone tripping over and injuring themselves. This can be stopped by having people wear suitable footwear s...

Scene opens with the older officer sat down at the table with some letters. The younger officer walks up to the table and salutes to the older officer The older officer looks up at him for a couple seconds, then finishes reading the letter. He then stands, gives a very little salute and says: “You must be my new Lieutenant (Said as Left- tenant) ” The younger officer then replies: “Sir Yes Sir! Second Lieutenant Lawrence Baker, reporting for duty sir” The older man signals to Lawrence to sit down with him at the table where there is a bunch of letters and a chess set. He follows this up by saying: “Lawrence eh? Just like that chap in the Desert (referring to Lawrence of Arabia). Fancy a game of chess? Lawrence agrees to the game with a nod of his head. The old man then speaks again: “Chess is a great game for officers to play, it really is like commanding a battle and every move could mean a win or a loss…” The younger officer then sees that the old...

In lesson we presented our pitch for our short film to our class. After presenting it I asked questions to them to see what they felt about and they asked me questions about what they think I could do to improve my film. One idea they said which i liked was to make a rather big age gap between my characters; meaning make the General an older man and the officer a young adult/late teen. this is because they said most young people say that they are anti-war while older people would say they are the opposite. I like this idea as it will go well with the anti-war theme, I will try and add this to my film by getting an older person to act in the film or just to get someone to look older than they are. they were also other ideas i liked such as different ways of adding some anti-war poetry into the film such as adding it into the dialog between the two characters.

Here is a schedule of when I am planning on filming for my short film. I have set it in a colour scheme to make it easier to read. The dates in red are days I am not able to film as I am busy; the days in blue are days I am hoping on getting all my filming done this week is during half-term so I have a lot of free time to do it. If I don't get everything filmed in this period the date in yellow are free days I can finish filming on but there is a little chance that I will need these days.
